The Elegant Enigma puzzle box is a fully operational 3D-printed box of my own design I made for one of my college classes. I set a few goals I wanted the puzzle to accomplish and started modeling from the ground up. Some of these goals include simple outside construction, multiple storage areas, and an “easy” and obvious way to open the puzzle that does not do anything but tricks the mind into thinking that it is opening. I accomplished this by designing a complete cube and a basic hinge mechanism with a square button in the middle. When the user tries to push the button, they will feel and hear a small mechanical “click.” I inserted a cheap limit switch on the inside of the button’s travel path to complete this.
